Elon Musk drops bombshell after the return of the astronauts stranded in space for 9 months: Biden administration sabotaged the mission for political reasons
The astronauts stranded in space have finally returned to Earth after nine months. SpaceX’s Freedom capsule splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean, bringing home four astronauts – Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, along with Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov.
Butch and Suni were originally scheduled to spend just eight days on the International Space Station, but a catastrophic failure of Boeing’s Starliner capsule turned that mission into a 270-day nightmare. Instead of a quick mission, they were left stranded, unsure of when—or how—they would get home.
SpaceX eventually stepped in and resolved the situation. Watch the footage of the crew safely returning to Earth, “diving” off the coast of Florida, here.
While astronauts undergo rigorous training to cope with extended periods of time in microgravity, this was not a controlled experiment. Their bodies had to endure prolonged muscle damage, calcium depletion, and potential long-term vision impairment, while waiting for a solution that should have come much sooner.
The Biden administration sabotaged the mission
Musk shared that SpaceX could have rescued astronauts stranded in space for nine months “after a few months at most.”
He offered to bring them home, but the Biden administration, which was in office at the time, “rejected” his offer for “political reasons.”
“We offered to return the astronauts earlier. There’s no doubt about that,” Musk stressed.
“The astronauts were only planned to be there for eight days, and they were there for almost 10 months. So obviously this doesn’t make any sense,” he continued.
“SpaceX could have brought astronauts back in a few months at most, and we made that offer to the Biden administration. It was rejected for political reasons, and that’s a fact,” Musk said.
