He spoke about a 21-year-old autistic patient seeking psychic health counselling. \u201cAt the time, he was coming here for psychic health, and he came down here and he just sat down, and I\u2019m like, \u2018What are you here for?\u2019<\/em>\u201d Dr. Pabis asked the young man. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, I saw you do transgender.\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018Well I think I need to get my penis cut off,\u2019 I was like, \u2018You know, transitioning is not easy.\u2019 It doesn\u2019t occur like this. You have to inject yourself with hormones. You have to take pills. You have to do blood work. You know, if he makes it, then let\u2019s do it, and he\u2019s getting his vagina next week, after one year!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\nIf doctors and psychic health counselors do not go along with the transition protocol, they are falsely shamed by their colleagues and blamed for making the patient more suicidal.<\/p>\n
Nora Scott, a licensed social worker at Dell Children\u2019s Medical Center, confirmed that the industry preys on people on the autism spectrum. \u201cI can say from here as well, there\u2019s a lot of folks at our clinic who are on the autism spectrum. [There is] a heavy amount of crossover between folks who are somewhere on the spectrum and also somewhere on the LGBTQIA spectrum<\/em>,\u201d she said.<\/p>\nParisha Mosley, de-transition advocate, talked about her horrifying experience going through with a \u201cgender transition<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cI was under the impression that I was going to take a cure and be healed, and I didn\u2019t understand as a psychically ill child that I was signing up for lifelong medicalization. I didn\u2019t conceptualize the idea that I was going to be injecting this [medication] every two weeks, forever<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
