\u201cConspiracy theory\u201d is anything other people believe that you don\u2019t. A term invented by the CIA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The terms \u201cconspiracy theory<\/em>\u201d and \u201cconspiracy theorist<\/em>\u201d were created by the Central Intelligence Agency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy as a way of discrediting people who doubted the government\u2019s official reports.<\/p>\n

Joe Uscinski, a professor of political science at the University of Miami and an so-called expert in conspiracism, tries to convince the world that the \u201cconspiracy theory<\/em>\u201d label wasn\u2019t created by the CIA. He said that allegation \u201cdoesn\u2019t make any sense on its own<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOne aspect that conspiracy theorists say is that the term was either created or deployed to make people who questioned the Kennedy assassination look bad<\/em>,\u201d he told The Associated Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n

But the phrase \u201cconspiracy theory<\/em>\u201d doesn\u2019t automatically have a bad connotation, he said. \u201cThat\u2019s what we have to attach to it, right? The CIA can\u2019t control how language is used, or how we interpret language over time<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unsupported theories about Kennedy\u2019s assassination remain very popular, Uscinski added. \u201cSo if there was some etymology game that the CIA was playing to tamp down those beliefs, it didn\u2019t work<\/em>.\u201d (AP<\/em>, January 6, 2023)<\/p>\n

Whatever lies outside the bubble called \u201creality\u201d that your information providers blow for your consciousness to inhabit, you are instructed to call conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

When one steals an election and others complain, they are conspiracy theorists.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows conspiracies run the world, but to acknowledge it would disempower you and undermine your sense of innocence and agency in a world of your own imagining.<\/p>\n

You take refuge in a theory of chaos, of blind chance, of disconnected events, of nothing making sense, of a narrative in your hands only, and all else is conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

You take part unconsciously in a conspiracy to delegitimize \u201cthe other party<\/em>\u201d by dismissing its followers as conspiracy theorists.<\/p>\n

When your party conspires for power, it\u2019s justified by the mission of \u201csaving democracy<\/em>.\u201d When the other side conspires for power, it\u2019s an impeachable offense, an act of terrorism.<\/p>\n

Whatever the other side believes, however grounded in evidence and testimony, is out of bounds: thus \u201cbaseless<\/em>\u201d conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

Whatever your side believes\u2014however cynical and far-fetched, however amplified to serve an agenda\u2014is protected speech, denial of which is grounds for prosecution, cancellation, termination.<\/p>\n

Anything that challenges the official narrative is conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

Anything the regime declares misinformation, disinformation, malinformation: conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

There can be only one official story, only one accredited college of experts, only one consortium of trusted media channels, only one code of ethics and politically correct behavior, only one sanctioned set of guidelines for acceptable speech.<\/p>\n

Anyone who questions the legitimacy of the above, or dares to uncover the documented origins, motives, and agenda of the above, is a conspiracy theorist.<\/p>\n

Those who want to be in the in-group, who want to belong, who want to be one of \u201cus\u201d, who want to succeed and enjoy the perks of conformity, who want to enjoy the spoils of rapacious empire guilt-free, sign with just a drop of your DNA-rich blood, and they will wipe your consciousness clean of any latent conspiracy theories.<\/p>\n

Conspiracy theory is for thee, not for me.<\/p>\n

Synonyms for conspiracy theory: dissent, free speech, research, independent media, right-wing, unofficial, unapproved, uncensored, unsanctioned, illegal, immoral, illegitimate, terrorist, hateful, racist, -phobic, denial, dangerous, unsafe, offensive, damaging, a threat to our democracy, fringe, extremist, weird, wacky, loony, misguided, under foreign influence, radical, unhinged, unaligned, unincorporated, unregulated, suspect, criminal, deranged, unfounded, defunded, unbranded, skepticism, critical thinking, debate, discussion, inquiry.<\/p>\n

When our side conspires for \u201cthe greater good\u201d, it\u2019s not conspiracy, it\u2019s democracy. When the other side conspires against \u201cthe greater good\u201d, it\u2019s not conspiracy theory, it\u2019s a threat to national security.<\/p>\n

When you accuse our side of conspiracy, that\u2019s a baseless conspiracy theory. When we claim your side has conspired, it\u2019s not conspiracy theory, it\u2019s justice.<\/p>\n

The opposite of conspiracy theory is cognitive dissonance: to keep you safe and secure.<\/p>\n

To be without conspiracy theory is to own nothing, to know nothing, and to be happy.<\/p>\n

Without conspiracy theory we have freedom to believe:<\/p>\n

\u2013 that all assassinations are done by lone nuts.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that the vax saved us from a deadly plague.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that all wars are just wars, fought for honor and glory and self\u2013defense.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that we live in the best of all possible worlds, like it or not.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that our country, right or wrong, is always right.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that Joe Biden was sharp as a tack, until the day he wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that Kamala Harris was unelectable, until the day she was installed to lead the Party.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that if the other side wins it will be the end of democracy, again.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that our free economy is booming, thanks to our open borders.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that all weather events are caused by manmade carbon dioxide.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that all the world\u2019s electricity can come from (we\u2019ll think of something\u2026\u2026.).<\/p>\n

\u2013 that human beings are destined to discard obsolete notions of gender, family, nation and race.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that with our party in power, all our needs and desires will be fulfilled.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that if you vote for our party, all your needs and desires will be fulfilled too.<\/p>\n

\u2013 that everything we claim to be true, must be true, by definition. For proof, it can be fact\u2013checked in our updated dictionary, our expert\u2013edited Wikipedia<\/em> page, our scrupulously scrubbed virtual communication account, and our revised authoritative history.<\/p>\n
