Ascorbic acid and a high dose of vitamin E, when given separately, also showed positive effects on cognitive performance, but there is not sufficient evidence to support their use. The results of vitamin D supplementation trials are not conclusive in assessing the potential benefits that vitamin D might have on cognition<\/em>,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2072-6643\/14\/5\/1033\">study<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>While dementia is a serious degenerative disorder, it\u2019s not always the cause of cognitive decline.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturalnews.com\/2018-11-15-conditions-that-are-often-mistaken-for-dementia.html\">article<\/a> by Zoey Sky detailed how artificial flavors, food colors, sweeteners, inflammation, infection, mold, Lyme disease, mercury and other metals, prescription medications and hormonal imbalances all may cause cognitive inabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1422-0067\/22\/9\/5026\">study<\/a> documented how the food choices of one\u2019s diet can affect nutrition which in turn can affect the brain\u2019s performance or lack thereof.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Consuming a balanced, nutritious diet is important for maintaining health, especially as people age. Several studies suggest that consuming a diet rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components such as those found in fruits, nuts and vegetables may reduce age-related cognitive decline and the risk of developing various neurodegenerative diseases<\/em>,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1422-0067\/22\/9\/5026\">study<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/alz.13884?af=R\">study<\/a> documented how a lack of certain nutrients can result in dementia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Concurrent nutrient deficiencies are associated with the risk of dementia. The potential of optimizing nutritional status to lower dementia risk warrants further study<\/em>,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/alz.13884?af=R\">study<\/a> showed.<\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1080\/21501201003735556?needAccess=true&amp;role=button\">study<\/a> looked at the nerve growth factor potential of <em>Hericium erinaceus<\/em> (lion\u2019s mane mushrooms).<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Nerve growth factor (NGF) has potent biological activities, such as preventing neuronal death and promoting neurite outgrowth, and is essential to maintain and organize neurons functionally. It is assumed that functional deficiency of NGF is related to Alzheimer\u2019s disease and plays a part in the etiology of the disease process<\/em>,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1080\/21501201003735556?needAccess=true&amp;role=button\">study<\/a> said. \u201c<em>Hericenones (compounds in the Hericium erinaceus) exhibited stimulating activity for the biosynthesis of NGF in vitro<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/health\/these-3-supplements-can-lower-your-dementia-risk-current-evidence-suggests-5168039\">article<\/a> by George Citroner chronicled how three vitamins, B, D and Omega-3 can reduce dementia risk.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-medical.net\/news\/20221207\/Study-People-with-higher-levels-of-vitamin-D-in-the-brain-have-better-cognitive-function.aspx\">article<\/a> by Emily Henderson documented how people with higher levels of vitamin D in the brain have better cognitive function. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturalnews.com\/2019-08-29-vitamin-d-prevent-decline-memory-learning.html\">Vitamin D<\/a> is the cheapest vitamin to procure, as it can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.4161\/derm.24494\">generated in the body<\/a> from sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cureus.com\/articles\/116591-effects-of-omega-3-polyunsaturated-fatty-acids-on-brain-functions-a-systematic-review#!\/\">study<\/a> found that Omega-3 fatty acids can increase cognitive function.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Consumption of omega-3 improved learning, memory ability, cognitive well-being, and blood flow in the brain.
