Recently alternative news channel KLA<\/em><\/a> interviewed Maartje van den Berg to discuss \u201csmart cities\u201d and 15-minute cities in Holland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese so-called \u2018smart cities\u2019 and \u201815-minute cities\u2019 of ours [in The Netherlands] are being sold to us as being \u2018green\u2019 and \u2018healthy\u2019. And at the same time, people should live in their own neighbourhoods and be happy being in them where everything is in their own surroundings and you don\u2019t need to go out. And if you need a car, because they are made car-free zones, and if you need to go out [of your neighbourhood] you\u2019d better share a car with somebody else. They\u2019ve made hubs outside cities where you can share a car or share bicycles<\/em>,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

This is not only being planned, she explained, it is already being implemented in small towns and municipalities all over Holland. And in 2025, they are going to introduce \u201czero carbon emissions<\/em>\u201d zones. Where \u201cdiesel trucks and vans are not allowed to enter our cities<\/em>,\u201d van den Berg said. At the same time, they are building hubs where shared cars will be stored and accessed.<\/p>\n

Last year a vehicle-free zone was trialled in Amsterdam. For six weeks, the major road in Amsterdam was blocked with physical barriers to stop vehicles from entering or leaving Amsterdam. \u201cA lot of people got really annoyed but also really alarmed because ambulances were not able to pass through and a lot of accidents occurred<\/em>,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The municipality of Amsterdam had to concede that their pilot project using physical barriers to \u201cmake Amsterdam more \u2018green\u2019 and \u2018healthy\u2019<\/em>\u201d had failed. So instead, the municipality decided to introduce \u201cintelligent entrance<\/em>\u201d into Amsterdam. \u201cIntelligent entrance<\/em>\u201d means installing \u201clicence plate recognition cameras<\/em>,\u201d van den Berg said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn 1 January 2025, 14 municipalities will introduce the \u2018zero carbon emissions\u2019 zones and [people will] get fined if they enter [these zones] with a diesel truck<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Licence Plate Recognition (LPR), also known as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), is an image-processing technology used to identify vehicles by their licence plates. Over the years we have seen councils and local governments in several countries introducing ANPRs.<\/p>\n

As van den Berg said \u201cthe same is going on in Germany with the cities. They [are] also introducing zero emission zones. And they [are] doing the same in Belgium and France, and in Portugal and Spain. The financing is coming from the European Union for all these programmes called <\/em>Horizon 2020<\/em><\/a>. All the [EU] governments signed the Green Deal, so they\u2019re all applying these policies<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year we have also seen Oxford City Council forge ahead with what they refer to as \u201cbus gates<\/em><\/a>.\u201d As in Amsterdam, Oxford also previously piloted physical barriers<\/a> to create low-traffic neighbourhoods<\/a> (LTNs) which were met with protests from residents<\/a>. London\u2019s Mayor Sadiq Khan has for years been attempting to implement his version<\/a> of LTNs called Ultra Low Emission Zone<\/a> (ULEZ) which has also been met with resistance. And the Isle of Man is planning to install ANPR<\/a> at its entry and exit points.<\/p>\n

At the same time that municipalities or local governments are installing cameras in Holland, they are removing parking spaces, van den Berg said. It is already difficult to find parking spaces but \u201cby the end of 2025, 10,000 [parking] places [will be] removed and new parking permits are no longer being issued<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not only driving privately owned vehicles that they are trying to control, if not abolish. Smart meters<\/a>, for example, are being installed in people\u2019s homes, she said.<\/p>\n

While rolling out tolls of surveillance, in preparation for switching from gas to electricity, the Dutch government is also building \u201ctransformer houses<\/em>.\u201d \u201cIn the coming years, there are going to be 50,000 \u2018transformer houses\u2019 being installed in residential areas<\/em>,\u201d van den Berg said. \u201cPeople don\u2019t like it<\/em>.\u201d The electricity transformers are noisy and emit electromagnetic fields.<\/p>\n

Previously all homes were powered by gas and the Netherlands was significantly impacted by the destruction of the Nord Stream Pipeline and, as with Germany, it affected the country\u2019s energy supply. Additionally, van den Berg said, \u201cWe had big gas fields in the north of Holland and they said they were going to close them. And they have been closed<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why would they do this when the gas supply was so obviously disrupted? \u201cThey want to make this transition, energy transition, towards electricity<\/em>,\u201d she said, even though there is not enough electricity to supply the country\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why we have areas without electricity supply. These wind turbines only give electricity when the wind is blowing. And there is not always sun, very much so in the winter times. So, [\u201crenewable\u201d energy sources such as wind and solar] are not working out and people are realising more and more that it is not a steady electricity grid<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because Holland is a relatively small land area, the wind turbines and large solar farms are close to people\u2019s homes. \u201cA lot of people are warning about the health risks<\/em>,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

All over Holland data centres are being built, she said. \u201cThere\u2019s a big one being built, a mega data centre [for] Google, in the north of Holland. Google bought land to build their data centre<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only is the \u201ctransition\u201d to electric, digital and state surveillance an excellent control grid, we have to wonder if economies are deliberately being destroyed. Van den Berg agrees. \u201cThat\u2019s what <\/em>Agenda 2030<\/em><\/a> is about. It\u2019s about wrecking our economy<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause these \u2018transitions\u2019 like the digital transition, the energy transition, the smart cities, they\u2019re not working out. And it is meant to wreck because this is Agenda 2030 and <\/em>The Great Reset<\/em><\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is a Dutch Government plan or roadmap called the National Strategy on Spatial Planning and the Environment<\/a>. Currently, it is a draft report. \u201cIt was written in 2021 during [the covid] lockdown<\/em>,\u201d van den Berg said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe report says that Holland is going to meet urgent social challenges such as climate warming and climate change, and we need to go to digital connectivity and accessibility for all and housing, which is a really big problem for Holland. And you see that our government [and] our municipalities are applying this new strategy plan<\/em>,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is where one of our hopes lies<\/em>,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

She explained, \u201cEach local government or municipality had to write their own strategy for spatial planning and the environment. All these transitions and Agenda 2030 are in these new strategies. And so, people can go to their Town Hall, together with local parties who serve our interests, and they can speak in the Town Hall and say, \u2018Listen, we don\u2019t want solar panels on our streets, we don\u2019t want transformer houses\u2019 and people are actually really doing it. They\u2019re going to their Town Halls<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is also a significant citizen movement to use cash. Van den Berg explained, \u201cWe always say, \u2018Don\u2019t buy your food and drink at a supermarket, only pay cash and if you cannot pay cash \u2013 leave\u2019. And say to the people, \u2018Please, cash is also a valuable way of paying and you should allow it, or we won\u2019t come back\u2019<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s really working out because a lot of places are letting people pay with cash more and more<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as reading their local government\u2019s strategy on special planning and the environment, van den Berg recommends people read Jacob Nordang\u00e5rd\u2019s book Rockefeller: Controlling the game<\/em><\/a> and Kees Van Der Pijl\u2019s book Pandemie van de angst: Opstap naar een totalitaire maatschappij?<\/em><\/a> (Pandemic of Fear: A Step Towards a Totalitarian Society?<\/em>), which has been translated into English.<\/p>\n
