Romania is at the center of international attention after the Constitutional Court annulled the presidential elections, citing constitutional concerns without providing a clear justification.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The decision to ban C\u0103lin Georgescu for running again (ever again, as it seems) for President, outside the Court\u2019s case law and against the Constitution<\/em>, is the final blow to Romania\u2019s frail post 1989 democracy. After it went all in on supporting the current globalist political establishment of the European Union, instead of serving national interests and rally behind President Trump\u2019s Administration and its \u201cRevolution of common sense<\/em>\u201d, the Romanian establishment is using everything it has to block the Opposition.<\/p>\n

An extremely dangerous precedent was already created, amounting to a coup d\u2019etat<\/em>. Nothing guarantees, at this time, that this terrible precedent will not be repeated in Romania or in any other Member State of the European Union.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, the invalidation of the controversial candidacy of C\u0103lin Georgescu, accused of ties to Russia, and the rise of George Simion have triggered strong reactions from conservative leaders such as Santiago Abascal (leader of Spain\u2019s VOX party), Mateusz Morawiecki (former Prime Minister of Poland and leader of the ECR group), Jacek Saryusz-Wolski (Polish MEP and former EU accession negotiator), Charlie Weimers (Swedish MEP and member of the ECR group), as well as the Patriots for Europe, the third-largest political group in the European Parliament, and College Republicans of America, a major conservative organization in the U.S. These figures warn of risks to Romanian democracy and emphasize the need for a transparent and fair electoral process.<\/p>\n

Charlie Weimers, a Swedish MEP from the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group, warned about a potential effort to block George Simion\u2019s candidacy: \u201cIf this occurs, there will no longer be a right-wing candidate in Romania\u2019s presidential elections<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a Polish MEP and foreign affairs expert, described the situation in Romania as a test for the European Union, questioning whether EU power groups would also attempt to prevent Simion from running.<\/p>\n

Santiago Abascal, leader of Spain\u2019s nationalist VOX party, was even more direct: \u201cAll my support goes to George Simion in these decisive moments for democracy in Romania and across Europe<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mateusz Morawiecki, former Polish Prime Minister and current ECR leader, compared Romania\u2019s situation to other cases of political intervention in Europe, warning that the elimination of opposition candidates poses a serious threat to national sovereignty.<\/p>\n

The Patriots for Europe group, the third-largest in the European Parliament, issued a statement highlighting the risks to Romania\u2019s democratic stability: \u201cWe stand with the Romanian people in defending their democracy. Respecting the will of the voters is the foundation of a free society. The world is watching<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the US, William Branson Donahue, president of College Republicans of America, a major conservative student organization, declared: \u201cGeorge Simion represents a bold and patriotic vision for Romania\u2019s future. Let us pray for his victory and safety<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romania Under International Scrutiny<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Constitutional Court\u2019s decision to annul the elections has sparked controversy, particularly due to the lack of transparency regarding its official justification. In this context, the growing international support for George Simion reflects broader concerns about Romania\u2019s electoral process. It remains to be seen how Romanian authorities and European institutions will respond, but one aspect is clear: Romania\u2019s elections are no longer just a domestic issue\u2014they have become a matter of global interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of democracy in Europe is currently at stake. If they succeed in manipulating this election, then no election in the EU will ever be free again. This is our last chance to fight back before we lose everything. True democracy means letting the people decide\u2014not bureaucrats behind closed doors<\/em>,\u201d said George Simion, president of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) Party, vice-president of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Party.<\/p>\n
