He\u2019s a leading voice in the transhumanist movement, which promotes using science and technology to radically alter the human body, with goals ranging from cognitive enhancement to digital immortality.<\/p>\n<p>On the podcast, Thiel described transhumanism as \u201c<em>a radical change where your natural human body gets changed into an immortal body<\/em>.\u201d He pointed to transgender people as an example of change that, in his view, doesn\u2019t go far enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>A transvestite is somebody who changes their clothes and cross-dresses. A transsexual changes their penis into a vagina<\/em>,\u201d Thiel said. \u201c<em>But we want more change than that<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thiel\u2019s comments focus on body-hacking futurism, drawing attention to the increasingly strange Silicon Valley\u2019s obsession with control over biology.<\/p>\n<p>As shocking as it may be, Thiel isn\u2019t content with people changing their sex. He wants to re-engineer humanity itself.
