In an interview, Israeli historian and leading thinker at the World Economic Forum, Yuval Noah Harari, outlined the foundations of total digital control. His statements sound like a glimpse into the future \u2013 or like the disclosure of a global program: The social credit system, according to Harari, is nothing less than the \u201clogical evolution of money<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The monetization of all aspects of life<\/strong><\/p>\n

Harari explains that conventional currency \u2013 whether gold, dollars, or Bitcoin \u2013 only values a limited portion of human activity. Work, trade, consumption, production \u2013 all of this is measured in monetary terms. But much of what concerns everyday social and moral life has remained priceless: friendship, helpfulness, social behaviour, or environmental awareness.<\/p>\n

The social credit system, Harari argues, will fully encompass this area. Every action \u2013 whether visiting a friend, helping an elderly person, or separating trash \u2013 will be assigned a quantified value. \u201cThe idea is to monetize everything, to give value to every single action you do in life<\/em>,\u201d says Harari. Even reputation or standing will be translated into precise points.<\/p>\n

The totalitarian potential of the evaluation<\/strong><\/p>\n

This development, Harari argues, could give rise to \u201cthe most totalitarian systems in history<\/em>.\u201d Every action would have immediate consequences for people: \u201cEverything you do affects your ability to get a job, obtain credit, or travel<\/em>,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n

Such a system would create a society where access to mobility, property, or services depends entirely on a digital score \u2013 a \u201ccompliance score<\/em>\u201d that measures each person’s behaviour.<\/p>\n

The new omnipresence of surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Harari points to a key difference compared to the dictatorships of the 20th century. In the past, total surveillance failed due to practical limitations. Even the Soviet KGB didn’t have 200 million agents to control 200 million citizens.<\/p>\n

Today, however, the situation is reversed. \u201cNow you can monitor anyone at any time. You no longer need human agents<\/em>,\u201d says Harari.<\/p>\n

Smartphones, cameras, microphones, drones, and networked devices provide a constant stream of data. Artificial intelligence analyses it in real time. This creates, for the first time in history, the technological basis for complete, global control.<\/p>\n
