A Chinese biotech startup is making global headlines after claiming it has developed a pill capable of extending human life to 150 years, a bold assertion that arrives amid Beijing\u2019s growing interest in state-backed longevity research.<\/p>\n

Lonvi Biosciences, based in Shenzhen, says its capsule targets so-called \u201czombie cells<\/em>,\u201d damaged cells that accumulate with age and fuel inflammation and disease.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s CEO, Ip Zhu, has framed the pill as more than another wellness fad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not just another pill<\/em>,\u201d Zhu said<\/a>, describing the treatment as a breakthrough that could push human longevity into unprecedented territory.<\/p>\n

The pill\u2019s core ingredient, procyanidin C1 (PCC1), is extracted from grape seeds.<\/p>\n

In mouse trials, Lonvi claims the compound increased overall lifespan by 9.4 percent and extended life by 64 percent from the first day of treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiving to 150 is definitely realistic<\/em>,\u201d Chief Technology Officer Lyu Qinghua told<\/a> The New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a few years, this will be the reality<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

China Moves Longevity Research Into the National Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the timeline is optimistic, the ambition fits China\u2019s broader strategy.<\/p>\n

Aging research has quietly become a state priority, grouped with artificial intelligence and advanced biotech in national development plans.<\/p>\n

Chinese President Xi Jinping has reportedly discussed longevity initiatives with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who speculated that organ transplants could bring \u201cimmortality<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A decade ago, anti-aging science in China was dismissed as Western fringe research. Today, it\u2019s a booming sector backed by venture capital and government support.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody in China used to talk about longevity, only rich Americans<\/em>,\u201d said Gan Yu, co-founder of Shanghai\u2019s Time Pie, a startup in the same field. \u201cNow, many Chinese are interested and have the money to extend their lives<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Pill for 150 Years?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lonvi\u2019s researchers say the real promise is not merely extending lifespan but delaying the onset of age-related illness. They argue PCC1 strengthens cells, slows deterioration, and preserves energy production.<\/p>\n

With a healthy lifestyle, they claim, people could potentially live well beyond 100, and perhaps even past 120.<\/p>\n

But for now, the claims remain firmly in the realm of laboratory speculation.<\/p>\n

PCC1\u2019s results exist only in mice. No human trial has demonstrated anything close to the sweeping promises made in Lonvi\u2019s marketing. Despite this, the company continues presenting its pill as a technological certainty.<\/p>\n

For now, the only guaranteed result is that the global longevity industry continues to grow, fuelled by hype, billions in investment, and a public increasingly willing to buy whatever hope comes in a bottle.<\/p>\n
