He warns against the development of an infrastructure for a biological vaccination passport, which, in his view, could be used in a future pandemic. Outwardly, it resembles an ordinary plaster, but it actually contains hundreds of tiny needles that dissolve after being applied to the skin. This releases two components: mRNA lipid nanoparticles, which carry genetic instructions for the production of specific proteins, and so-called quantum dots, microscopic particles that can embed an invisible pattern of medical data into the skin.<\/p>\n<p>These markings are invisible to the naked eye, but can be read by special cameras within milliseconds. The technology is designed to be integrated with digital scanning systems and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The technology&#8217;s origins date back to 2019, when the Gates Foundation funded research into quantum dot tattoos, which were intended to leave simple colour patterns in the skin to document vaccinations in regions without functioning health registries. Critics now argue that the technology has advanced considerably since then.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hulscher, modern systems could store not only simple markers, but entire data sets, including vaccine type, manufacturer, batch number, vaccination date, and dosage sequence. He believes it would theoretically be possible to assign each person an individual code.<\/p>\n<p>This point in particular raises significant concerns among critics.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike a paper ID card or a QR code on a smartphone, a marker embedded in the skin cannot be forgotten or easily discarded. It remains permanently on the body and could serve as proof of identity or health in the future.<\/p>\n<p>No mobile phone, no internet connection, and no paper documents would be required. One&#8217;s own wrist could be enough to gain access to services, shops, or public transport \u2013 or to be denied access.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers themselves have pointed out that the technology could be used in future pandemics if needed. It is precisely this wording that is causing unease among critics.<\/p>\n<p>Hulscher also points out that Bill Gates and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla publicly described the covid-19 pandemic as a kind of preparation for future health crises. At the same time, global mRNA production capacities were maintained, and numerous digital health and identity systems that emerged during the pandemic were never fully dismantled.<\/p>\n<p>Critics therefore see the combination of mRNA administration, biometric identification and AI-supported verification less as a medical innovation and more as a potential building block of a new control system waiting for the next global health emergency.<\/p>\n<p>They find it particularly alarming that the system would not necessarily rely on central databases or a permanent internet connection. The information could be read directly from the skin. In a world increasingly relying on digital identities, biometric data collection, and AI-powered surveillance, critics argue that such a technology would create a virtually irreversible instrument of control.<\/p>\n<p>These concerns are further fuelled by the experiences of the covid-19 pandemic. In numerous countries, people without proof of vaccination were denied access to workplaces, shops, restaurants, or public transportation. A permanently implanted health certificate would elevate these systems to a new level.<\/p>\n<p>Proponents of the technology, however, argue that it could be particularly useful in developing countries without functioning health registries and would facilitate the documentation of vaccinations.<\/p>\n<p>The real debate therefore revolves less around technical feasibility \u2013 because research is demonstrably being conducted on such systems \u2013 but rather around the question of how such technologies could be used in the future and what limits democratic societies want to set for them.<\/p>\n<p>For Nicholas Hulscher, the answer is clear.
