New Bacteria Genus: «Frackibacter» Identified in Shale Fracking Wells

 
Besides homeowners’ well water capable of burning as a result of fracking, as seen in the short video below, something previously unknown to science has been discovered: a formerly unknown genus of bacteria that Ohio State University researchers have labeled “Candidatus Frackibacter.”
 

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there’s such a thing as “induced” earthquakes probably attributed to fracking wastewater.  Some seven million U.S. citizens live in areas vulnerable to induced tremors.

Here’s a map produced by the U.S. Geological Survey showing 21 areas impacted as well as the location of wells that may or may not be associated with earthquakes.

Coincidentally, there’s the New Madrid fault line (region of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi) that seems to becoming more active with earthquakes. If fracking activities are implicated, can we expect the Midwest to become another quake zone like the West Coast?
