The significance of the spring equinox: There is a decrease of night and an increase in day (day and night becomes almost equal). This equilibrating moment symbolizes an ineffable state of harmony that brings along a state of profound transformation and beneficial transformation of our human nature. Everything awakes and tends to show up on the surface in order to benefit of the intense and profound beneficial subtle energies of spring. After a period of “conservation in which we have felt winter’s restrictions,” especially referring now to the yogic diet, consisting of seeds, grains and dairy, it comes, in accordance with Orthodox Christian tradition, the Easter period of fasting, that comprises as well this moment of equinox.
Especially in this period there appears a spontaneous process of cleansing, of the physical body but as well of our subtle bodies. As a result of this phenomenon, there is a gradually installing of a state of mental calm, mental balance, affection. From the esoteric point of view, we are put in an ineffable state of resonance with the glorious androgynous state, with the mysterious state of harmony that, in certain circumstances, installs in our inner universe, between the female and male side, between the inner man and inner woman (anima and animus). Not by coincidence, especially in this mysterious time of rebirth and regeneration of nature, mating occurs to most animals, plants begin to sprout and life germinates all around us.
Astrologically speaking, the Sun passes from Pisces into Aries. Thus we are witnessing the end and the beginning of a mysterious zodiacal cycle. Man becomes especially now, analogically speaking, like a volcano that is about to erupt, to explode. That is why he is often able, especially now, to make unique things. The meditative and contemplative state characteristic to Fishes is now being replaced by the Aries’ spontaneity and affirmation. Especially now we may refrain from unnecessary and excessive sacrifice and from excess of idealism, in favor of actual concrete experiences and direct actions that are being done with the purpose of materializing our inner aspirations.
Man needs now to fully adapt to these rebirth requirements, to awake to reality and wake up from his sleep, to stop the process of hibernation (this step having material, social and spiritual significance). Man needs therefore to adapt good regarding the mysterious natural cycles, especially now, because an eventual resistance would be similar, so to speak, to swimming against the current. In some cases, this mismatch may bring the phenomenon of fatigue, nervousness, which often are not motivated – this is generally defined as a medical “spring fatigue”.
This mysterious hiatus moment puts us spontaneously in connection with the huge subtle energies of the beginning, with the optimism that occurs at any new beginning of life. However, this effervescent moment makes flourish, fascinatingly, our vitality. It awakes harmoniously virility and femininity, giving an impulse to the ecstatic living of the mysterious moment of spring of spring, which makes us be more spontaneous, courageous, dynamic and active.
