Two states, extreme in their own way, which are often discussed on the spiritual path: the state of WISDOM and the state of FOOLISHNESS (I)

By eminent yoga teacher Gregorian Bivolaru

In the following presentation, we will talk about these states one by one and reveal some of their important secrets. We hope that all these aspects will be of real use to you, especially to those of you who are on a spiritual path and practice yoga with enthusiasm and dedication.

We will begin by talking first about the state of wisdom.

It is essential to know that the state of wisdom is an exemplary state of complete, eminently Godly awareness of the Self. Wisdom implies, among others, the revelation of the Immortal Godly Spirit, Atman.

The state of wisdom involves a complete Godly harmony between thought and action, attained by a human being who has the subtle essential centre, sahasrara padma, dynamized in a powerful and predominant way.

The supreme state of Godly wisdom is reached through an eminently Godly and rich spiritual experience, which was then deepened through meditation, and subsequently accelerated considerably through enthusiastic, attentive, systematic, and persistent practice of the higher stages of the millennial Yoga system, as well as through fruitful deepening of the secret methodology of the Tantra Yoga system.

True wisdom implies an eminently Godly vision, harmoniously integrated through a clearly superior, spiritual intuition, of the physical universe, of the Macrocosm, of man, of his integration into the Macrocosm, but also of the mysterious reality and existence of God.

Wisdom also implies a thorough, profound, essential, eminently Godly understanding of the moral values of Godly Goodness, of Ultimate Godly Truth, of perfect Beauty, of complete Purity of the soul, of Godly Love, of exemplary Respect both for oneself and for others, of God’s unconditional, overwhelming Love.

Wisdom includes an unshakeable faith in God, which is in complete harmony with certain Godly principles and eternal Godly values. Wisdom is also an expression of profound Godly awareness of the Self and complete self-control, of a permanent guidance in life according to universally valid Godly principles, which never contradict common sense and beneficial creative intelligence.

True wisdom constantly reflects complete respect for the Godly laws of Nature as they were created by the perfect and unmatched wisdom of God.

The wise man, says one of the inspired Romanian proverbs, does always, without exception, only what is possible; in other words, he constantly respects the Godly laws of being, and does not do just anything and everything he wants.

The wise man strives tirelessly to bring closer to himself all the major Godly values that are universally valid and that have been revealed, one by one, throughout the spiritual activity of all mankind, in the course of the evolution that has taken place over the millennia.

The wise man grasps and understands, in unison with the Godly Will, everything that exists within the macrocosmic Creation and Manifestation, within the limits of his own powers, which become extraordinarily strong, especially when he has attained the extraordinarily high state of wisdom.

A great wise man contributes fully and without hesitation to the spiritual and moral growth of humanity through eminently beneficial actions, which are Godly integrated, through brilliant works or teachings that manifest and reflect Godly Harmony and supreme Godly wisdom.

All these Godly insights that the wise person receives from God are then shared with others who are ready to receive them properly. The wise person teaches people in the spirit and respect of great Godly values. The wise man is most often severe with himself and, to a certain extent, forgiving and full of immense love for others, especially when they fully deserve it.

The wise man always puts in full agreement, in an eminently Godly way, both his rich life experience and the fruit of his profound meditations, with the sometimes brilliant teachings and new revelations that can sometimes be revolutionary, which have been received both from God and from the other great sages from whom he learns, either directly or through the careful study of their works.

A great sage considers that the Ultimate Godly Truth is the sum Total of eternal Godly wisdom, and therefore he does not consider that all these can be established in a rigid and definitive formula. A great sage is just like a very pure child, who remains in every moment of his life a constant recipient of new teachings that are wise, from everyone and everything around him.

A truly wise person is always ready to correct himself in case of error, and he can do so promptly, either on his own initiative or under the influence of wise advice from outside.

The wise person constantly unites within himself the complete steadfastness of a spiritual and moral position that is always inspired by God with a clearly superior receptivity to new authentic Godly values.

The wise person knows in a profound and detached way his true position, which has been granted to him by God, both in relation to himself and to others, and he is easily recognised by the fact that he never displays pride or theatrical humility.

Wisdom is a sublime fruit of superior, Godly, ultimate, and universally valid knowledge about the world, which comes from God.

Always, without exception, wisdom leads to eminently beneficial actions. It inspires us to have a practical, harmonious, and Godly integrated conduct, while also giving us the practical explanation and foundation for this conduct in line with the Godly laws of nature and certain Godly principles.

Practical moral wisdom excludes both seclusion from people without a well-founded reason, such as, for example, for the purpose of performing tapas by withdrawing from the world and living in a hermitage or in an eccentric location outside the harmonious life of the community, as well as superficial, gregarious sociability.

Practical wisdom always involves sincere and correct relationships of affectionate friendship and constant love, detached from petty interests and selfishness towards people. Such attitudes, which include a state of wisdom, are naturally modulated according to the degree of intimacy of each person, excluding, except in certain situations that require it, cold, distant communication, but also inappropriate familiarity, which is childish and excessive.

Understood as a generally fruitful, harmonious attitude and a state of devotion to the higher Godly life, practical wisdom is an exemplary state, Godly integrated and spontaneously transfiguring. Practical wisdom, even if it does not imply a rigid code of prescriptions regarding conduct, involves a whole series of practical gestures and attitudes that are harmonious, clearly superior, and Godly inspired.

Practical wisdom manifested in life is always accompanied by eminently beneficial concrete actions which, beyond appearances, seek to maintain a permanent vital-emotional, psycho-mental, supramental, and spiritual balance – allowing human beings who aspire to attain wisdom to remain in a state of euphoric serenity and peace with themselves.

Practical wisdom integrated into life often spontaneously attracts the onset of indescribable states of overwhelming happiness without object, which then manifest themselves more and more intensely and become natural when the state of wisdom is attained and deepened.

All the fundamental spiritual paths of humanity, among which the Yoga system holds a place of honour, have integrated, expressed, or revived certain valuable spiritual traditions that have led those who were prepared to understand and apply them correctly to the highest peaks of Godly wisdom.

Authentic religions, Yoga, the Tantra Yoga system, the Godly principles that have been included in practical moral codes, the wisdom-filled philosophies, the great creations that were Godly inspired and are everlasting, the famous works of literary, musical, and artistic genius, advanced objective scientific concepts about God, about the world we live in, and about man’s life full of Godly meaning – all these have been direct or indirect incentives to discover and deepen the multifaceted state of Godly wisdom. Sometimes all of these were more or less an explicit formulation of this eternal and universal Godly wisdom.

We shall not cite here, in order to illustrate these aspects relating to the state of Godly wisdom or to theoretically substantiate what the state of wisdom entails, any names or titles of works. In fact, any such indication would be somewhat limiting.

However, it is necessary to refer in this regard to authentic human spirituality, which nevertheless conveys Godly wisdom, and which is important to understand in its entirety as a fruit of the spiritual activity that was Godly inspired in all peoples and all ages.

When wisdom appears as an obvious innate ability, as a given with which some human beings are born, it can be said that, in fact, it was acquired previously, in other lives, through the appropriate and persevering efforts made at that time by the incarnated spirit (for example, through the practice of yoga that was successfully completed in another life, as a result of reaching high spiritual levels).

In other cases, the true state of wisdom is the result of essential inner experiences. Such an authentic state of wisdom can be attained through the careful, enthusiastic, and persistent practice of either the Yoga system, the Hatha Yoga system, or the Tantra Yoga system.

As an essential state, wisdom awakens, among others, the Godly inspired, vastly superior ability to understand and intuit in a spiritual manner everything that exists in the Godly Creation and Manifestation.

The state of true wisdom leads to an extraordinarily deep and comprehensive understanding of reality. It brings about a very rich spiritual experience and helps us discover the right measure and a complete balance between beneficial desires and possibility.

The state of plenary wisdom makes possible the direct experience of God, from which, among others, euphoric serenity of soul and reconciliation with oneself and the whole world spring forth. The true state of wisdom involves beneficial creative intelligence, exemplary common sense in conduct, penetrating spiritual intuition, but also a fair, objective assessment of events and reality.

Wisdom, as an essential inner state, is acquired through rich spiritual experience, which is accessible through the attainment of various states specific to the Yoga system, but also to the Tantra Yoga system.
