France could join BRICS – De Gaulle Addresses Putin

France’s membership in BRICS is being floated publicly by none other than the grandson of the late Charles de Gaulle and it’s suddenly a worthy idea.

A reminder that General Charles de Gaulle, operating around the time of the Kennedy brothers, had a number of CIA assassination attempts made against him. 33 is the probable number. Rumour is he was taken out when he finally went into retirement. How poetic and symbolic that it is his grandson making these public overtures to Russia.

The ninth St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum took place on November 16-18, 2023. Putin’s address with a Q/A session is provided in full below. Pierre de Gaulle addresses him during this session with English translation provided.

Pierre de Gaulle spoke with the Russian president, and Vladimir Putin opened the door to a French candidacy within BRICS

On November 17, 2023, Pierre De Gaulle, member of the International Russophile Movement (MIR), participated in the plenary session of the IX International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg, raising crucial questions on cooperation between France and BRICS.

Pierre De Gaulle, grandson of the famous General de Gaulle, spoke at the International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg. During his speech, De Gaulle underlined the importance of culture, science and progress in uniting people beyond political interests. He proposed the bold idea of diplomatic representation of the BRICS within recognized inter-ethnic structures, allowing the participation of all countries, including those of the European Union.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised De Gaulle’s efforts to bring France and Russia closer together. Putin said he was very moved to speak with a direct descendant of General de Gaulle. He shared his interpretation of events in Europe, evoking the parallels between the approaches of Marshal Pétain and General de Gaulle, emphasizing Russia’s continued support for General de Gaulle’s position.

On the question of France’s participation in BRICS, Putin opened the door to a French candidacy, pointing to Russia’s presidency of BRICS the following year.

This intervention by Pierre de Gaulle opens new perspectives on Franco-Russian relations and the dynamics within the BRICS, arousing attention and reactions in the diplomatic world.

Note: In the video below, De Gaulle speaks from 1:27:00 up to 1:31:17. He embraces a multipolar vision and mentions the much-needed transformation of the Western education system to include the development of cultural and moral values. At 1:30:00 he says he’d like to see France joining the BRICS organization in the service of promoting national prosperity. Putin replies up to 1:34:30, casually mentioning France being welcome to apply for BRICS’ membership after eulogizing General de Gaulle at length.
