Opposition forces planning ground operation against Iran ‘in coming days’

A ground operation against Iran by Iranian-Kurdish forces is being prepared with US-Israeli backing, according to sources familiar with the plan.

In comments to Reuters, Kurdish sources were more measured, saying only that they were in talks with the CIA about providing weapons.

They also said they’d consulted with the US about how and whether to attack security forces in Western Iran, and that a final decision had not yet been made.

Any such operation would be launched with the goal of creating room for Iranians opposed to the government to rise up and demand regime change.

The CIA, the White House, the Pentagon and the Kurdish regional government did not respond to requests for comment.
