Defining esoteric aspects regarding the notion of point of view (I)
By eminent yoga teacher Gregorian Bivolaru
The point of view is a specific and at the same time personal way in which reality (both external, near or far, and internal) is mirrored in the inner universe of a human being, and then filtered and, so to say, “colored” in a certain way, in close connection with certain characteristic factors, which are personal.
The specific point of view gives rise to and maintains what might be called a perspective or, in other words, a human being’s personal view of reality. The personal perspective on reality, on the world, or, in other words, the predominant point of view, is what, beyond appearances, is the set of constitutive schemes of a distinct, personal way of looking at reality and mirroring it, without having the abstraction, coherence and explicit character of a philosophical system. It is essential to emphasize, however, that when viewed from an initiatory, esoteric perspective, this complex mirroring of reality then promptly generates certain occult resonance processes which attract in an uninterrupted flow corresponding subtle energies from the Macrocosmos and all of these accumulate in our aura.
This expression, “point of view”, is often used, especially by artists and writers. The point of view of a human being or, in other words, the personal perspective on reality, on the world, creates and maintains a certain general conception which, as we have already pointed out, does not have the abstract character of a philosophy, nor does it immediately imply the practical function of an ideology.
It is fundamental to consider that, even when nothing is theoretically known about the existence of the point of view, nevertheless, every human being has and then manifests in an unconscious manner his or her own point of view, which defines him or her.
Even animals, and here we are also referring to animals that are endowed with some defining forms of intelligence, such as, for example, dolphins, elephants, dogs, cats, horses, but also some birds, such as, for example, crows and pigeons, are characterized by a dominant point of view.
One’s own defining perspective on reality, on the world, on the Macrocosmos, or in other words, one’s personal point of view, when considered in a broader sense, designates the specific way in which all the information accessible to us is received, mirrored and structured, including the visible environment. All this is accomplished, so to speak, both through a sui generis inner receptivity and plurivalent central processing, and through our own interpretation of all the sensory aspects accessible to us, which is realized both in the light of all the previous accumulated experiences and in the light of the complex relations that are generators of meaning, of significance.
The characteristic point of view or, in other words, the personal perspective always, without exception, gives rise to a certain distinct reflection of the world, of reality, of the Physical Universe in which we live, through consciousness. In this manner, a certain way of seeing, of perceiving reality, which is distinct, personal and defining, appears and persists, or, in other words, a habit of conceiving all that occurs in our daily existence is established.
In this sense, the expression “point of view” can to a certain extent become synonymous with the formulation of a concept of life. The personal point of view determines a specific filtering of our impressions, of the information we receive and of the mirroring that each of us then accumulates, and all of this generates considerable modifications in the reflection of reality, “coloring” it, so to speak, in a certain way, in close connection with what might be called “personal filters” that exist in our inner universe.
For example, it can be said that, at all times, both optimism and pessimism are, in fact, obvious manifestations of a particular point of view that has become predominant.
Due to the fact that, in reality, every human being presents or, in other words, is characterized, even when he is not aware of it, by the existence of a certain point of view, both his own inner reality and the whole surrounding reality are mirrored in a specific way, which is, however, different from the Microcosm of his being.
Within the super gigantic play of God’s Creation and Manifestation, the personal point of view of every human being is amazingly complex and, because of the extremely rich inner combinations that arise and persist, such a point of view is always unique. And this also gives God the opportunity to enjoy all this, especially when the point of view of certain human beings becomes marvelous, sublime and Godly.
Beyond appearances, our perspective on reality is in a certain way distorted, modified and, so to speak, richly “coloured”, even when we are not aware of it, in close connection with the specific filters that characterize us. A significant example of such a filter are the foolish judgments that many of us already have and which in some way define us. All these arise, persist and influence us because of the existence of a particular point of view.
Because of the predominant point of view that characterizes us without exception, each human being perceives in an astonishingly nuanced and specific way the surrounding reality near or far, and at the same time is characterized by a perspective that is unique. This aspect confers an uncanny uniqueness that characterizes the inner universe of every human being.
In close connection with his point of view, each human being expresses a certain nuanced opinion, or manifests a certain evocative feeling, or, in close connection with the specific affinities that define him, feels a certain emotion, a certain state, whether when he is face to face with another human being, when he sees an object, when he is confronted with a phenomenon, or when he directly experiences a certain aspect of reality.
What is the Ultimate Godly Truth
The attentive, lucid, enthusiastic, persevering, and full of devotion to God attainment and deepening of the state of wisdom thus makes it possible for the wise man’s point of view to tend then asymptotically and even to approach, to become to some degree tangent to the all-embracing, mysterious, and eternal Point of View of God.
It is indeed essential for us to realize it without delay, but above all it is decisive for us to sense in the context of certain sublime, privileged experiences, the presence and unceasing manifestation of God’s eternal Point of View, which is mirrored in a mysterious way in the framework of the Godly Creation and Manifestation that exists in the Macrocosmos.
Always, without exception, God’s mysterious and eternal Point of View is present in the Whole Macrocosmic Manifestation and is what is called the Ultimate Godly Truth.
The already well-known teaching of Jesus: “Know fully the Ultimate Godly Truth, for in the knowledge of the Ultimate Godly Truth you shall be set free” implicitly reveals to us the fundamental mystery of the Ultimate Godly Truth of God the Father.
This Godly wisdom-filled teaching of Jesus also makes a veiled reference to the mysterious but eternal Point of View of God the Father, which is omnipresent in the super gigantic sphere of the Macrocosmos.
Symbol of the Absolute Unique
It is at the same time necessary and important to realize that the expression “point of view” contains within it the occult notion of focal point, which, as the initiated know, is the symbol of the Absolute Unique, or, in other words, of the enigmatic Essence of God the Father. When considered in a figurative sense, the point of view emphasizes the astonishing playfulness of every aspect of reality, every aspect of matter, or even of all situations.
The wise view of reality that the wise man discovers and then explores involves, among other aspects, intuiting and revealing those aspects of reality that are full of Godly intelligence, both of beings and of things, which more often than not escape the bodily senses and common reasoning that pertains only to the mental sheath (manomaya kosha).
In the view of the great philosopher Plato, the term “vision”, in Greek noesis, was regarded as the ultimate form of knowledge. This kind of ultimate knowledge is regarded as far superior to the purely rational, discursive knowledge, dioanoia in Greek. This type of extraordinary vision also implies for Plato the ecstatic, sublime, pure, exalting contemplation of the eternal Ideas of God.
The unifying, total vision in God
When some human beings manage to approach in a certain enigmatic, beatific, ineffable way, and even succeed in identifying themselves in a profound way with the mysterious and eternal Point of Vision of God the Father, an overwhelming, ecstatic state of Godly enlightenment appears in their inner universe, which is sublime, evident and unmistakable.
Every high, sublime state of Godly enlightenment which appears under certain conditions and then fades after a certain period of time also emphasizes that the human being in question has succeeded in entering and then maintaining himself in a mysterious state of ecstatic, ineffable communion with the eternal, absolute, mysterious Vision of God the Father.
When certain privileged human beings succeed to enter into, and then to abide for a certain somewhat longer period of time an ineffable beatific state of communion with the ecstatic and mysterious Vision of God the Father, a focal point of vision that is deeply transformed is installed and then remains, even if in a potential state. Such an extraordinary, ecstatic experience enables them to experience what initiates call a Godly, beatific, intuitive vision. Such a Godly, beatific, intuitive vision enables the human being to contemplate, but above all to feel in an overwhelming, ineffable and immediate way the eternal Godly Essence.
The personal point of view of each human being, even if it is in a certain way a unique complex experience, always gives rise to what can be called a somewhat unique vision of the world, of reality, of the Macrocosmos. The personal vision of each human being of the world, though always unique and astonishingly complex, nevertheless emphasizes, as we have already pointed out, the totality of the personal constitutive schemes relating to the surrounding world, relating to the Physical Universe, relating to the whole Macrocosm that that human being has already structured, even when all of these do not claim to exhibit the coherence or explicit character of a well-structured philosophical system.
At the other pole, which is obviously absolutely superior to the personal point of view, which is always unique and characteristic of every human being, the initiated, but also the great sages place what is called the God’s Point of view of all and everything that exists in the Godly Creation and Manifestation or, in other words, the unifying, total Vision in God.
Both the initiated and some inspired philosophers consider that, ordinarily speaking, man fails to know directly and profoundly the beings, things and all that God has created and manifested in the super gigantic sphere of the Macrocosmos. Most often, such a man is not able to discover or intuit in their totality and complexity the universal Godly Laws that have existed since the beginning of all beginnings in the whole Godly Creation.
More often than not, human beings who often indulge endlessly in a state of crass ignorance are only aware of their own vague, partial, superficial, much blurred, even considerably distorted or erroneous ideas about everything that has been created by God.
Some human beings have certain absurd, silly ideas about the Laws of God, or they mistakenly imagine Godly Laws that do not really exist. In such cases, the views of such human beings are delusional, hallucinatory, and in some cases their views are bizarre, even insane.
Given that the Essential Godly Ideas or, in other words, the primordial Godly Archetypes of everything and all that exists were conceived and then emanated from the eternal and absolute Wisdom of God, since God alone is in reality their Creator, to actually know in a supreme and true way everything and all that exists requires that we actually succeed in mirroring, also through intense, frantic states of constant aspiration aimed at revealing God’s absolute Point of View. In fact, to have access to both the Godly Intentions and the archetypal Godly Ideas that all exist in the total, all-embracing, eternal wisdom of God.
Both the objects and the beings that exist or that existed in the already very distant past outside of us and even the bodies of living creatures are not in their entirety mirrored in a paranormal empathic, complete, integral manner, because, most often, their reflection is achieved in a partial and superficial way, through vague, confused ideas, which appear in our consciousness. The more or less imprecise, confused ideas, regarding the various bodies, including those of the human beings that we see, are not then instantly mirrored in an empathic, paranormal manner, including in the soul. Such ideas that are eminently personal do not appear in our being and in our consciousness as the eminently absolute, archetypal Ideas, which are in their secret reality only the Ideas of God.
Therefore, each of us who indefinitely indulge ourselves in a state of ignorance, lethargy, crass mediocrity, superficiality or even stupidity, cannot access through an eminently paranormal, empathic mirror, which can be total, their objects, beings or bodies, nor in themselves, nor can we reflect them, analogically speaking, just like perfect Venetian mirrors in our own inner universe.
In their mysterious reality, all these can be contemplated, can be mirrored in a paranormal, supernatural way, only when we truly experience a state of Godly illumination in its own extraordinary way and thus have direct and unmediated access to the omnipresent and omniscient Consciousness of God.
Beyond appearances, most of us who indulge in states of gross ignorance, lethargy and superficiality, know in a summarized, anemic and often hasty way our own various aspects or bodily manifestations only through the imprecise, more or less wrong, personal ideas that we generate.
We who indulge ourselves in the crass state of ignorance and larvarity only imagine that we manage to know all bodily aspects and manifestations only through our own projected ideas about them. Beyond this state of drowsiness, of inner lethargy in which we are stuck, all this is only revealed to us as it really is when we “sink”, as it were, in an ineffable, supernatural way, into the absolute, mysterious, all-embracing Consciousness of God.
Apart from this extraordinary, supernatural state of which we have spoken, we who indulge in a state of gross ignorance and mediocrity have access only to the ideas that relate to all those manifestations. Most often only through the medium of various ideas, whether those of other human beings or of our own ideas, most of us then acquire a certain knowledge which is partial, superficial and more or less erroneous.
The supernatural, all-pervading and mysterious enigmatic vision which is realized in God requires that the consciousness of the human being in question must first be intimately united and even remain for a certain period of time in a state of full beatific communion with the all-pervading and all-knowing Consciousness of God the Father.
When we do not have access to the mysterious and all-pervading Essence of God, it is neither possible to receive nor to mirror reality in a supernatural way. The full vision that is realized in God reveals to us in an enigmatic and ineffable way all that exists in reality, the Godly Life, the mysterious Godly Dynamism, the Godly Being, and even the immutable Order of the eternal Godly Truths.
When the unspeakable, beatific Vision in God settles in our inner universe and then remains for a certain period of time, it also becomes possible to rise suddenly far above our personal point of view.
When we do not yet have access to the mysterious and eternal Essence of God, we cannot see in all its splendor and majesty the Godly Reality that surrounds us. Then the Godly Actions, the Godly Life, the Godly Dynamism, the Immortal Being of God, remain almost inaccessible to us, and, moreover, we cannot even guess or intuit the immutable Order of eternal Godly Truths.
Whether we like it or not, always, without exception, each point of view triggers a certain subtle process of occult resonance that persists as long as the point of view that has arisen remains in our being.
A particular point of view which is constant, whether it is beneficial or evil, then generates a corresponding specific process of occult resonance, whether beneficial or evil, which is invariable.
